About a month after the article was published, I heard the now hugely popular "Bad Romance", perhaps the anthem of the winter, and this made me review my opinion of Gaga. I went trough some inteviews of hers and watched some perfrmances from various shows etc. and I am now convinced that Gaga is perhaps the voice of the late 2000s and early 2010s generation.

Now, I know what you are thinking..."oh, someone emailed him and told him to write this retraction"...wrong! It became clear after a few days of watching videos etc. that this girl has a great mind. Not only has she brought back classic styles and musical trends reminiscent of Bowie and Erasur, but she has (herself) written some anthemic songs which no doubt will ring in our heads for years to come. Also, while I wrote off her Warholian interview as pretentious, her attitude in interviews (which I considered to be more than reminiscent of Warhol) were actually honest and in fairness, justified. After watching an interview with Jonathon Ross on the BBC as well as one particuloar interview with an Australian Journalist its understandable that Gaga would be inclined to give 2 fingers to the press. It is not impossible to imagine how aggravating and embarassing it must be to have your sexuality questioned in almost every interview. However, when we see Gaga, we see two sides; there is the bold, cocky and savvy Gaga but, there is also the calm, admiring and 'warmer' Stefani Germanotta. Why do these two personalities of Lady Gaga, easy; she wants to her her vulnerable side private and that is fair enough. Afterall, what's wrong with people thinking you are a cold hearted bitch, when behind closed doors you are perhaps quiet cool? I'd prefer that to being America's sweetheart and being a cruel bastard at home (I'm dreaming of a white Christmas).

In the end, what we need to look at is her talent, she is extraordinary. She has taken old, washed-up strands of electronica and pop and revived them with a 00s optimism. She, like her predecessors in the forms of Micheal Jackson, Marvin Gaye, DAvid Bowie and Queen are forcing musicians in the mainstream to think outside the box and is drvingthem to becom more original in bot their creaton of music and it's performance. While her second album (The Fame Monster) has a lot to live up to (but it should be noted that it was initialy intended just to be an extension of her The Fame album) it is off to a great start. And, if this album is composed of what one might consider 'sloppy seconds' of a previous album, imagine what she mightbe able to do with a concentrated effort on producing a third album. Let's wait and see...
Best,
SHC
