"All the Good Ideas are Taken": What does it take to become inspired?

It's unusual for this blog to take an introspective approach in the articles. Despite the occasional opinionated inclusions in some of the previous articles, this one, in some ways, highlights a genuine question that 'I' personally have: What does it take to become inspired to write, create, do, or make something?
Currently, the room is slightly dark, the walls carry images of MArtin Luther King Jr. in D.C., Frank Sinatra sitting at a piano, Tupac Shakur praying, Hendrix thinking. however, the one thing each have in common, is despite their divergent postures, they all seem to have that twinkle in their eye that says "I'm onto somthing!"

Where did these 'artists' draw their inspiration from? When/How/Where did each of these people realise that what they were doing was new, or rather, how did they know that what they were doing was, in many ways, revolutionary?
In answering this, it's fair to say that this debacle can be approached through a myriad of perspectives. Inspiration to do will oneself and therefore do great things is not confined to those who are already 'great', but rather it is because of their ingenuity that they manifest greatness. Isn't it?

Let's just say, that these people were born to be great, they generate new ideas and ways of thinking or approaching their respected crafts, but does this come as a cost free benefit? It seems, if we troll through some of the various epochs of time. Jesus, whether one chooses to believe he exists or not, it is said, died a tragic death on a crucifix. Jack Kerouac (the mid-20th century 'Beat Poet' drank himself to death. Tupac Shakur, was shot to death. Jimi Hendrix, overdosed on a drug cocktail. Michael Jackson, seemingly did the same. Ernest Hemingway, committed suicide with a shotgun. Martin Luther King Jr. was assassinated. Does the pressure of greatness, as manifested by one's own inspiration or genius, untimately result in woe or 'dolor'?

You may be thinking, "has he lost his mind?". Doubtful. However the questions come as the result of several months of seeking inspiration, moreover motivation to write something that has been dwelling in the trenches of my mind for sometime. Something that I am aware exists, but can't seem to coerce into coherent existence. I'm sure the time soon arrive when the sparks present themselves so that the fire can be lit. But until then, it might be best to look back in time for a while and comtemplate whether or not it is true that to chase a goal can lead to dismay.

Think it's time for tea.

P.S. Apologies for this being the first post in several months...have been incredibly busy procrastinating. Will be back as soon as possible with more of the same garble that you seem to like reading; rants, raves etc.
